This route is an obvious choice for children, families, and beginners.

⏱️ The full descent takes about 2.5 hours of paddling, but you’re free to take your time and enjoy your day at your own pace.
🛶 Route Overview
The first section (5 km) is calm and relaxing. A great way to get used to your boat and paddling technique.
Along the way, you’ll pass through 3 canoe slides – specially built channels to help you pass small dams.
These “water toboggans” are a hit with kids and adults alike!The second section is the same as our Mini Descent (7 km), with 3 fun rapids and the iconic passage under the Pont d’Arc.

🗓️ Step-by-Step – Your Day with Castor Canoë
We ask that you arrive at Castor Canoë 30 minutes before your selected departure time.
☕ Upon arrival at our Vallon-Pont-d’Arc base, enjoy a complimentary welcome coffee before your adventure begins.
🧡 You’ll receive a small waterproof container for your valuables (phone, camera, keys, etc.), which will go inside a large 55 L waterproof barrel for double protection.
⏱️ Please be punctual!
We give out all route information as a group, for a friendly and efficient briefing.
🗺️ You’ll receive guidance on how to manage your time on the river and get the most out of your experience.
A short intro to paddling techniques and key safety tips will follow.
🕒 Together, we’ll then choose your return time:
12:00 / 13:00 / 14:00 / 15:00 / 16:00 / 17:00 / 18:00 / 18:45…
🦺 You’ll also be fitted with a buoyancy aid tailored to your size.
🚩 About 30 minutes after the Pont d’Arc, on your left-hand side, look out for a red and yellow sign marked Stop 3 – that’s your arrival point.
🚌 Our shuttle will pick you up at the return time you selected earlier.
🍹 And to end your day on a high note, we’ll welcome you back with a refreshing drink – rosé wine, syrup, or something else to your taste!

Do I need to know how to swim to go canoeing on the Ardèche?
Yes, each participant must be able to swim at least 25 meters and be comfortable in the water.
From what age can you go on a canoe trip?
The minimum age is 7 years old, in accordance with current regulations and depending on the chosen route.
What should I bring for a canoe trip?
A swimsuit, closed-toe shoes (like sneakers), sunscreen, water, a picnic (for longer routes), and a hat or cap.
Is the equipment provided?
Yes, everything you need is included: canoe/kayak, paddles, life jackets, waterproof barrels, and helmets if needed.
Is parking easy?
Yes, we have a free on-site parking lot, and it’s shaded too!
What happens in bad weather?
In case of flooding or storms, canoe trips may be canceled for safety reasons. We will offer you a reschedule or refund.
Where does the trip start and end?
The starting and ending points vary depending on the route you choose. A shuttle is included to bring you back to your vehicle.
Can we take breaks during the descent?
Absolutely! You’re free to stop along the way to enjoy a picnic, go swimming, or just take in the scenery.
